SomalilandInvestment conference Ended Successful And Consensus

British Government co-hosted international conference which was about Somaliland investment forum and business, in this week was  concluded in central London.

This conference was attended by high level delegates led by President Ahmed Mohamed Mohomud Silanyo who was accompanied by the first lady Madam Amina Weris, ministers, business men and Somaliland Diaspora.

On the other side, the UK Government delegation in this summit was led by the foreign office and department for international development’s ministers, James Duddridge and Lynne Featherstone.


His excellency Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo, in this conference explained Somaliland resources, security of the country, democracy, elections and investment opportunities.

Among the speakers was Somaliland minister for foreign affairs, Mohamed Bihi Yonis, who described Somaliland historical background in which he stated that from 1991, Somalilanders gained back their independence after a long bloody struggle, Somaliland will never reunite with Somalia said minister Bihi.

Somaliland and UK co-operate in different sides and both sides agreed bilateral relationship in, investment, security, economic growth and prosperity.

UK Government will  support Somaliland in financial management to enhance trade opportunities, job creation, health, education and rebuilding of infrastructure.

UK Government will help Somaliland in new programs, including  livestock sector, agriculture and to increase SDF Somaliland development fund, that UK Government is taking role to have Somaliland reach prosperity levels as other countries, however, it is still seeking for recognition from the international community.

UK ministers  who spoke in that event included, minister for foreign office mr. James Said.

 The British Government is keen to build partnerships across Africa, and Somaliland is no exception. We want to help harness the power, the optimism and the drive of the people of Somaliland. We want to build on that and create a business environment which attracts inward investment, and which encourages the brightest talent in Somaliland to stay, and those who have left to return.”


This conference opened in London on 14thOctober 2014 and concluded successfully, attracting international investors to take role in the development of the young nation , on the other hand Somaliland got conference credibility.

 we shall pray to the almighty Allah for the president and his delegation to return to their home land safely. Long live Somaliland.
